I’ve been outside for most of the day. I spent time with my sister and we had fun. I made a homemade frappuccino and it was delicious (my recipe will be up soon).
Then I sat in front of a MAC. I just find the need to use iPhoto every time I sit in front of one & I think it’s because I own a Dell that I find it so alluring. To all of you MAC owners, I envy you.
Below is an old MAC photo of my sister and I. Gotta love iPhoto.
Other than that, I had salmon for dinner. Below is the uncooked version – I forgot to take a photo of the whole plate once dinner was ready.
If you are sleeping by the end of this post, I will completely understand. I’m suffering from bloggers block today. I apologize – I’ll be back tomorrow :)
I am having a total blogging overdose today but I just had to write about Ben & Jerry’s. Like most college students, I think of one thing when I hear the term “flip cup”. However, I firmly believe Ben & Jerry’s will change all of that. They recently released a new type of ice-cream called flipped out. I purchased two flavors (cookie dough and peanut butter). The term “flipped out” makes total sense once you learn that you actually do have to flip the cup in order to get the ice-cream out of it. I ate the peanut butter flavored one and it was delightful. I mean, I couldn’t help myself. I was walking in the grocery store and I saw the freezer section with the Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream and the flipped out one just screamed “I’m the new Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream and my flavor is cookie dough. Buy me, consume me. BUYYY me” so I did. Thankfully I also skipped dinner. I purchased both the cookie dough (which I have yet to try) and the peanut butter one. It is very, very peanutbuttery but the fact that there was pre-melted fudge in it made it worthwhile. I couldn’t stand the boring look of the ice-cream, so I added a few things to make it look more appetizing. Take a look:

As you can see above, there are oatmeal cookies on the plate too. I baked them myself, mostly due to the fact that I did not feel like doing anything today (hence my attire below) but at the same time, I had to be somewhat productive. The recipe I used can be found here. I did ad a little bit of nutmeg to it though but that’s the only change in the recipe.
My younger sister attended her fifth – that’s right, fifth and final prom today. While I took pictures, etc. I realized how truly happy I was over the fact that I never have to go through the process of prom preparation again. Prom just adds so much pressure – finding a date, flowers, vehicle and lastly the perfect dress. My sister decided to wear a beautiful, floor length pink silk beaded dress with a chiffon train and she was escorted by her friend, AJ. Here are some photos:

My sister looked gorgeous and I’m really proud of her although I was so happy to walk away from the prom scene…

All I’m going to say about that video is this:
That is what happens when you mock, make fun and disrespect the wrong person- in MMA anyways. In real life, not so much.
I (with assistance from my lovely, beautiful Mother) made Pico de Gallo for the first time today. Here’s a photo:
It was a very simple thing to make. Here’s a recipe for all the Domestic Diva’s out there! My Mother’s recipe only requires the following ingredients:
- Tostitos, 6 diced tomatoes, Cilantro, one squeezed lime & one large diced red onion.
First I diced the tomatoes in to small squares, diced the red onions and mixed them together in a bowl. Then I added the squeezed lime and the cilantro where I then proceeded to mix everything together. I chilled the Pico de Gallo for half an hour before serving it. While I was waiting for it to chill, I made guacamole where I used the following ingredients:
- 4 soft/riped advocado’s, 2 diced tomatoes (optional), Cilantro, 1/2 diced red onion, 1 squeezed lemon (to preserve the green color of the guacamole).
Cut the advocado’s in half, place them in a bowl. Add the squeezed lemon immediately to preserve the color of the advocado. Add the diced onion, cilantro and tomato. Mix with a fork and chill until you serve it. End result should look something like this:
We had homemade burgers for dinner too.
This was so much better than college cafeteria food, that’s for sure!
I’m back in mediocre Vermont… For now. I journeyed to NYC on Friday morning. I was an hour early and the bus station had not even opened yet. This allowed me to walk around and take photos of the town in which I was departing from, while also hauling around my 50 pound bag worth of clothing that I never even wore. Here’s a photo from Friday morning:
I also had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. with my Uncle and my cousins. My youngest cousin, Ty had a gaming convention in Baltimore so after we dropped him off we went to D.C. – That was so amazing. While my cousin is a gaming wiz’, I am a real geek for anything that involves politics so to experience D.C. was incredible. We also visited the International Spy Museum which just made me so paranoid. Spy’s are among us!! :) I recommend going there – The tour was long and I felt like I had ADD an hour in to it but other than that, it was a great museum. Here are a few photos of us in DC:
On Sunday, my cousins and I went to the city where we walked about 50 blocks. I had way too much Starbucks and several minor heart attacks. Especially when I passed the window displays for Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorfs Goodman. I’ve never actually walked inside these stores (I fear that I will be treated like Julia Robert’s in Pretty Woman when she tries to purchase clothing from that high-end botique and gets treated like… well, a prostitute ) but from the window displays alone, I know that I would have a serious problem finding the exit of these stores. The theme for the Saks window display was created by Chanel and every window had a Chanel theme. Here’s a few photos of Saks and Bergdorf:
The photo above are the leggings from my Rihanna post from last week! They’re AMAZING!!! I was also really excited to see more of The Model As Muse Exhibit on display (which I also wrote about last week) at Bergdorf Goodman.
I had an incredible weekend with my family. I have not had so much fun in months! I really enjoyed spending time with them and while I was in New York, I realized that I might live in mediocre Vermont (for now) but in cities like New York City, I just feel mediocre. New Yorker’s are the most sophisticated, street smart people on Earth and I could be dressed in Chanel from head to toe but I will always feel mediocre in New York. That’s why I love that city. It humbles me and I always feel the size of an ant while I am there. It is the single hand most incredible place.
Today is the beginning of finals week. I’ve prepared well and feel that I will do just fine. My last final is on Thursday and then I have vaction until August 28th. I will depart to NYC the following day and I am so excited.
As you can see, I’m wearing suspenders. I could not for the life of me find my belt this morning so I just wore suspenders instead (I apologize for the quality of the photos, my camera is getting oldddddd haha). I learned that suspenders are actually much more comfortable than belts. It was a simple outfit for a complicated day and I did change about 4 times eventually just ending up in sweatpants. I have to cut this post a little short since I have to go eat lunch – grilled chicken salad with cucumbers, beets, tomatoes and no dressing along with a liter of water and a cup of coffee – but I will continue the post later today. Since it’s finals week, Iwish I had the genious and intelligence of my favorite suspender wearing nerd, Steve Urkel:
Today our college baseball team participated in the NECC. Unfortunately they lost both games and are no longer in the conference. But I am proud of them, they played with dignity and illustrated excellent sportsmanship contra to Elms College and Becker College who displayed disgusting behavior. I would be embarrassed if I were a student of either college. But from what I’ve understood, this is the first time since 2002 that SVC baseball has made it this far. We’re proud of you boys!
Ofcourse I had to illustrate my pride with a homemade Hanes t-shirt (which by the way, does NO justice for us hourglass shapes haha) ;) Shoutout to Dan, Tim and Big Jon who were all on my t-shirt.
Today I am wearing bike shorts that I got when I was nine when I was an avid bike rider. I never threw them out being that I have always been certain that I’d ride a bike again or find some use for them plus I suffer from anxiety that if I throw any clothing out, I’ll regret it – that’s why my closet is so ridiculously large. I found use for them today. I paired them with grey tunic, a black blazer and leather booties which I later changed to platforms. Here’s a photo:
May I excuse my hair – I didn’t wear it that way but it is sooooo hot and humid outside that I had to throw it up for a second. Here’s are some bike shorts available for purchase from Topshop. I know American Apparel also sells neon colored and black colored bike shorts. I like these flowered ones, they’re different and very comfortable.
So, currently I’m listening to Fast Car by Tracy Chapman and it got me thinking that hopping in a car and just driving would be really nice. I’d drive to New York City and I would go to Times Square and drink a cup of Starbucks. I would just stare - I would smell the smog and I would feel the breeze. I’d look at all the faces I had never seen in my life and I’d love every second of it. Fast car is a great song. The song in itself is mellow but desperate at the same time. The song is incredible, so incredible I remember when I heard it for the very first time, thinking Tracy was actually a male. Speaking of songs/singers, I have just been enjoying a lot of Tim McGraw lately. He’s incredible. I recently just heard the song “Walk like a man” which made me really sad – It’s a beautiful song, but it really hit home and all I wanted to do was call my friend and tell him about it. But I don’t take rejection well and I know he’d either say something really inconsiderate or we’d just start arguing. Maybe I’ll play it for him sometime…
My day has been alright, I really shouldn’t complain despite the fact that I spilt coffee all over my keyboard and my mouse buttons are all messed up, but it could be worse. I applied for a summer job today, I hope I get it. It would allow me to work with youth and my suitemate told me I’d be a great mentor. I sure hope she’s right but I semi-agree with her, because I’d never apply for the position if I didn’t feel that I had something to offer. My Freshmen year is almost over – that is so insane. I just can’t believe how fast time has gone by. A lot of things happened this year – I left my home, fell in love for the first time, got my heart broken for the first time. I got to meet amazing people and for the first time, I had great teachers who actually taught me something. Very cool. I kind of slacked off (no, I didn’t party my butt off) I just lost a lot of drive a few months in to the year. I guess boys can do that to you, although I know better now. “Chicks before dicks” – Right? ;)
I’ve lost a little bit of weight but I’m sure I’ll gain it back. I really want a cigarette right now, but I’m going to drink grapefruit juice instead. Lame. Oh and tomorrow I’m wearing Calvin Klein cut-off boyfriend shorts, a basic gray tunic and lace up booties. Nothing major – the weather is too hot to layer and stuff.
