Rachel Zoe for QVC

Picture 10

Rachel Zoe can’t dress herself but she sure can dress others. Featured above is a look at Rachel Zoe’s collection for QVC which includeds great jewels, faux furs (I’m sure that PETA will be satisfied) and eye-catching evening bags. Prices range from $32-$130. The pieces are an simple and affordable way to add some  spice to your basics this fall. I am sure everything will sell out quickly so get your credit cards ready! The collection will make its debut on QVC.com September 12th at 8pm EST.

When I traveled to SoHo to interview Iris Loeffler last month, Ms. Loeffler took me to one of her favorite shoe stores, United Nude. I was instantly impressed with their designs – especially the Stealth design (featured below). I have featured my favorite picks below and if you are interested in purchasing any of the United Nude designs they are available to purchase online. You can also locate a store near you by clicking here.

Siwy Denim is incredible. I don’t know if you can call all of their designs “denim” (hence the sheer fabric used in some of the designs) but here are my favorite picks for their Fall 2009 collection:Picture 161Picture 162

Gothic Givenchy

Givenchy_logo_v1_m56577569831354691

Here you have it – The Fall 2009 ads from the house of Givenchy.  Riccardo Tisci who is the creative director of Givenchy, stated that the new ads offer “reality” for women.“I wanted to give this feeling of going from a studio to reality. It’s important to give reality to women.”  he stated. I personally don’t see how this ad offers reality to the person viewing them. Despite the photos being shot on a “real” location, not in a studio it still lacks a touch of reality because if a real person was to walk out the door with a pharaoh looking feather hat, deep red lips and no clothing on, that person would be looked at oddly. However, Givenchy did do a great job with continuing the dark features that were also seen on their runway during Paris Fashion Week. I think the ads will grow on me eventually.

Adriana Lima (who just announced that she is pregnant) walked the Fall 2009 show for Givenchy and is now featured in the Fall 2009 ads. She appears very dark and different compared to what she normally looks like when modeling for Victoria’s Secret. Take a look:

& it’s becoming old news that Erin Wasson is a spokesmodel for RVCA and I’m always late so that’s just perfect!  I didn’t bother look at the collection until today and ofcourse (it’s Erin Wasson), I’m impressed. I really love how casual the line is – Erin usually dresses casually anyways, so it’s not a stretch and it really all seems like key pieces she’d wear herself. Check it out:

Monica Bellucci for Dior

I just saw these adds for Dior which have been endorsed by Italian actress Monica Bellucci. Despite the amount of photoshop (it’s just not necessary for a woman like her) the campaign ads are lovely.

Oh and would this happen in the United States? Competitive magazines using the EXACT same image of an actress for their respective front covers? I wrote about Monica Bellucci in my Sans Fards blog post last month. While looking for images for this blog post, I stumbled upon a cover of Italian Vanity Fair and quickly realized that it was the exact same photo as the one that was featured on the French Elle Magazine that I had featured in my Sans Fards post. To make matters worse, they used the same photo, in the same month and the same year! Check it out:

Acne scars

I believe they’re the worst type of scars out there- or maybe I’m just vain? I’ve had acne/pimples since I was 9 – A whole 10 years! I don’t remember a time where my skin was not like this and I can never help myself. I’m always picking on my skin.  Yes, feel bad for me. While children die of starvation, I complain about pimples. I know – stupid! But do any of you know of any products that can help get rid of these types of scars?

It looks like I’m not the only one seeing red lately. Check out these amazing mini netbooks from Dell.com which in partnership with the (RED) foundation has created the mini netbooks. They’re small in size and cheap. Depending on the size of the netbook in which you get, the price range is as follows: the 9″ starts at $249, 10″ starts at $349 & the 12″ starts at $399. Other color options are available too. I personally prefer it in Red – it’s hot.

Not bad at all. Especially for a college student like myself.

Blogger’s block.

This is no joke. I have no idea what to write about. Lets see.. I want the Karl Lagerfeld design below sooooo bad! I stumbled upon this tee/hoodie on Style bubble – they’re designed by Proud Parents for their Spring ’09 femme fatale collection.

& then there’s Fred Flare who just saved my life. I’ve been looking for a Military style jacket for agesssssss (thanks Balmain) and I finally found one that is fairly inexpensive. Take a look:

I like the fact that the jacket has a feminine touch, with the gold detailing that almost looks like loops of flowers. Did I mention it’s also on backorder until August?

It’s Prom season

My younger sister attended her fifth – that’s right, fifth and final prom today. While I took pictures, etc. I realized how truly happy I was over the fact that I never have to go through the process of prom preparation again. Prom just adds so much pressure – finding a date, flowers, vehicle and lastly the perfect dress. My sister decided to wear a beautiful, floor length pink silk beaded dress with a chiffon train and she was escorted by her friend, AJ. Here are some photos:

All I’m going to say about that video is this:

That is what happens when you mock, make fun and disrespect the wrong person- in MMA anyways. In real life, not so much.

New York, New York

IMG_2156I’m back in mediocre Vermont… For now. I journeyed to NYC on Friday morning. I was an hour early and the bus station had not even opened yet. This allowed me to walk around and take photos of the town in which I was departing from, while also hauling around my 50 pound bag worth of clothing that I never even wore. Here’s a photo from Friday morning:

IMG_1976I also had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. with my Uncle and my cousins. My youngest cousin, Ty had a gaming convention in Baltimore so after we dropped him off we went to D.C. – That was so amazing. While my cousin is a gaming wiz’, I am a real geek for anything that involves politics so to experience D.C. was incredible. We also visited the International Spy Museum which just made me so paranoid. Spy’s are among us!! :) I recommend going there – The tour was long and I felt like I had ADD an hour in to it but other than that, it was a great museum. Here are a few photos of us in DC:

IMG_2010IMG_2076

On Sunday, my cousins and I went to the city where we walked about 50 blocks. I had way too much Starbucks and several minor heart attacks. Especially when I passed the window displays  for Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorfs Goodman. I’ve never actually walked inside these stores (I fear that I will be treated like Julia Robert’s in Pretty Woman when she tries to purchase clothing from that high-end botique and gets treated like… well, a prostitute ) but from the window displays alone, I know that I would have a serious problem finding the exit of these stores. The theme for the Saks window display was created by Chanel and every window had a Chanel theme. Here’s a few photos of Saks and Bergdorf:

IMG_2128

IMG_2120IMG_2159IMG_2138IMG_2135IMG_2140The photo above are the leggings from my Rihanna post from last week! They’re AMAZING!!! I was also really excited to see more of The Model As Muse Exhibit on display (which I also wrote about last week) at Bergdorf Goodman.

I had an incredible weekend with my family. I have not had so much fun in months! I really enjoyed spending time with them and while I was in New York, I realized that I might live in mediocre Vermont (for now) but in cities like New York City, I just feel mediocre. New Yorker’s are the most sophisticated, street smart people on Earth and I could be dressed in Chanel from head to toe but I will always feel mediocre in New York. That’s why I love that city. It humbles me and I always feel the size of an ant while I am there. It is the single hand most incredible place.

Here are some random photos from the city:

Palladium Boots

These boots were popular among Alternative artist’s in the 90′s and I guess they stopped producing them – They’re being re-launched this fall and I am sooooooo getting a pair! The boots remind me of the Converse All-Stars but they look more comfortable and for girls like myself who wear a size 10 in shoes, they probaly also look better on due to the fact that they are slouchy. All-stars can some times look uncharming on large feet. Take a look:

Seems like Marc Jacobs might have found some inspiration in Palladium boots when he designed this shoe for his Marc by Marc Jacobs line. I think they’re similiar, what do you guys think? Take a look:

Met-Gala

The event is inspired by models- why I do not know. But Vogue editor Anna Wintour  hosted the gala (again) this year. “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” exhibit opened and the gala helped kick that off. Supermodel Kate Moss co-chaired the event along with singer Justin Timberlake. The event allows for long dresses – and some very short ones too- to be paired with even longer legs and handsome escorts. Ah.

Rihanna made her first major red carpet appearance since her ex-looser-of-a-boyfriend, Chris Brown beat her. She arrived without him, thankfully. In this very interesting, “only Rihanna could get away with wearing this” tuxedo from Dolce & Gabbana – I think the tuxedo is so ugly, it’s beautiful. Her blue eyeshadow also perfectly contrasted her skintone and lipliner… I love it.

Shalom Harlow’s odd dress reminded me of Rihanna’s tuxedo above:

I was impressed with Ashley Olsen who wore a simple, white gown from her own (and twin sister Mary-Kate’s) line, The Row:

and I really do feel that Madonna needs to realize she’s about 80 years old. Her outfit was designed by Louis Vuitton and it’s complete with bunny ears and gloves. It’s hideous. I guess I should encourage her behavior. I mean, how many women can say they are that fit and bold at her age or mine? Not many :)

Megan Fox for ELLE Magazine.

I was thrilled to learn that Megan Fox is the cover girl for June’s edition of ELLE Magazine. She’s a gorgeous, opinionated young woman and I absolutely admire that she represents confidence and power. ELLE just happens to be my favorite magazine. Take a look at the covers:

Ms. Fox can also be found on the cover of Esquire (the best Men’s Magazine) for the month of June. Take a look:

Man, I feel like a woman…

Seriously, I have blogged way too much today. I’m on my third post but I just had to share this photo with you. It’s of model Martin Cohn who is signed to DNA. Please pay attention to his first name – Martin. Yes, he is a male and he isn’t transgender AND he’s wearing Harem pants and a great leather jacket. His features are really delicate, he just looks like this:

I’m not going to lie, I’m kinda diggin’ it. Only because I know he must have to be really comfortable in his own skin in order to not care if people think he’s a female. You go, girl! I mean, man.

Oh and speaking of Harem pants (a trend that I am not really willing to follow), take a look at these:

I’m not going to lie, I had never even heard of Matthew Williamson until he along with H&M announced he’d be their guest designer for their upcoming summer collection. Well, the line has arrived and I am indeed impressed – I just don’t like the prices. Some of the dresses are $200.00 – Are you kidding? I’m sorry, the only time I will ever spend $200.00 on a dress is for 1. Prom (over that, thankfully) 2. My wedding dress 3. When my college loans are paid off. I am sure designers from Forever21 or stores like Topshop will catch up with similar designs for next year though.

Patricia Field - Source: Style.com

I am very enthusiastic with the mix of leathers and powerful fuschia, blue and yellow colors – bold & beautiful. Below are some photos from his launch party where a lot of celebrities that I had never even heard of attended. But all in all it looked like a fun time. Grace Jones was there (will she ever age!? Her legs are by the way to die for!), Sophie Furhman (In Alexander Wang shoes!) was there too and Patricia Field didn’t miss out on the bash either. But I was insanely disappointed by her outfit. Why is it that stylists can style everyone but themselves? (Rachel Zoe anyone!?) … Anyways, Matthew Williamson is great – his mix of bold colors and patterns are fantastic.
