March Forward

I absolutely fell in love with the jacket below, so I purchased it for $29.99. What a bargain! I got really lucky since it was the last jacket of its kind there and its no where to be found online although I’m sure it will end up on Ebay eventually. The design completely reminds me of a similar jacket which is designed by Balmain. While no design can ever compare to that of Balmain’s this will have to do until I have $10,000 to waste on the real deal. I plan on altering the jacket a little. I will write more about that in the future though.

I can’t figure out if the jacket reminds me of an old-school military jacket or a marching band jacket?! What do you all think?

It seems as though Rick Owens has tapped in to the structured shoulder trend and I’m not complaining. The jackets retail at the price range $1,000-,2000 which is much less than Balmain’s. Granted Mr. Owen’s designs do not feature the crystals and special detailing that Balmain’s does but his version of the  jacket itself makes a statement and it will not enter a room before the person who is wearing it does. H&M will also be offering their version of the structured shoulder trend. As soon as I find a picture I will feature it.

The First Lady of The Dance Floor

Lady Gaga is absolutely obnoxious. That’s why I like her and to think that she used to be a songwriter ie. someone who worked behind the scenes. Today, Lady G is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, she gets to wear leotards in public and is an artist that no one would recognize if she were to walk down the street in regular clothing and no make-up. She’s smart and by far one of my favorite artists.

Below are photos of The First Lady of The Dance Floor from a feature in Maxim Magazine. Take a look:

Get the look for less:

I highly doubt anyone but Lady Gaga would wear a leotard and fishnets in public. But who knows? Some of you might just do that! I say go for it.

The gloves featured above/below are designed by Alexander McQueen and cost $470.00 – Who can afford that?!

So I went on a quest and found these fingerless gloves that are very similar to McQueen’s version, except they cost me $6.99! Take a look:

I apologize for my horrific manicure but you can purchase my gloves (which are designed by Charlotte Russe) here.

On a different but similar note..

I am always reminded of Betsey Johnson when I see Lady Gaga. Just take a look at my favorite looks from the Betsey Johnson’s Spring 2009 RTW Runway Show:

Plastic Dreams

Agyness Deyn - Ashanti.jpg

Supermodel Agyness Deyn in the Ashanti boot which retails for $120.00

Until today, I didn’t think that it was at all possible to create shoes like high heels simply out of soft plastic. However, I stumbled upon Melissa shoes and they seem to be designed from just that! The shoes are created by transforming plastic spheres in to … Well, shoes. The plastic is manufactured in Brazil and according to stylefrizz, Melissa sells 2.3 million pairs of shoes a year. Vivienne Westwood is the lastest designer whom has signed models for Melissa and little did I know that I actually featured one of those models on youarewhoyouwear a few days ago. Below are my favorite Melissa designs. They are very interesting and diverse and I can’t believe I didn’t know of the designs until today. Take a look:

Melissa also featured a design on it’s Australian site which immediate caught my eye simply because it reminded me so much of a shoe in which Marc Jacobs created too.

There’s absolutely nothing better than a loyal pair of shoes

I got these booties in October of 2008. They were incredibly budget friendly and since then, they’ve been through blizzards with me, puddles of mud, dirt, cornfields – you name it. They still look brand new, they feel brand new and they’re a delight to walk in. I hope they remain that way :) I wore them out to the movies along with my Marc Jacobs bag but I forgot to include it in the picture. I went out with my sister to see The Hangover which was by far the most entertaining movie I have seen in years – incredibly hilarious not to mention that Bradley Cooper is so gorgeous! Who knew?

& speaking of Marc Jacobs…

One has to adore his Fall/Winter 2009 shoe collection. It’s a fun collection (am I the only one who feels that the base of the shoes featured below look somewhat similar to a clog?  Maybe Mr. Jacobs found inspiration from the clog and built the shoes from there?) and it just screams Marc Jacobs. Here a my favorite picks:

What do you all think about Mr. Jacob’s shoes?  Yay or nay?

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Time is limited for blogging today, so here’s a very brief summary of what caught my eye so far. Take a look:

Gina Tricot is the latest Copycat. Tricot’s design does not come out until the Fall of 2009 and it does cost a lot less than Balmain’s which costs approximately $6,000.00 whereas Gina Tricot’s version costs approximately $55.00. They’re almost identical. Take a look:

Incredible!

Take a look at the new shoes from designer Bebe. They look very similar to the YSL Tribute pump that I wrote about last month.

Wait, there’s more…

Featured below are some designs from various designers that I found interesting. I searched high & low for Martha Davis’s shoes but it seems that Shopbop either does not carry her shoes anymore or they just all simply sold out. Take a look anyway:
