The Life of Elizabeth Taylor

Posted on November 25, 2012

Lindsay Lohan will star as Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming movie “Liz & Dick” on the TV channel Lifetime. When Taylor passed last year, I had never really heard of her until then and when I saw the morning news speaking of her, I decided to look her up. I can now understand why so many people consider her to be an intriguing woman – from her exotic looks, her jewelry collection, her many marriages and for the fact that she is looking at Richard Burton in this photo instead of her newborn child. Many have compared Lohan and Taylor for their similar, chaotic lifestyles. Both were child actresses, both struggled with addiction as well as relationship woes and while I will not tune…

NARS Cosmetics has just released a cosmetic line in honor of Andy Warhol and they are celebrating his life in a beautiful way! I am not much for color when it comes to make-up. However, I think everyone knows that Mr. Warhol’s art left the world a little more colorful so I found this collection to be really fun and appropriate. The cosmetics collection is available for purchase at Sephora as well as on the NARS Comestics website. Here are my favorite picks from the limited-edition collection: Images are via. &

Hurricane Sandy has impacted the lives of New Yorkers, New Jerseyites, those from Connecticut and others from all over the Northeast. I would also like to take this time to acknowledge those who have been impacted by this Hurricane in Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba as well. After watching the telethon last night which featured Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Steven Tyler, etc. I thought that there had to be a way to donate money online as well. I started searching some of my favorite online stores and here’s a list of a few stores who are donating money to the Red Cross in an attempt to aid in disaster relief… If you’re going to spend money, you might as well spend it on…

I have ended my work with Object Collectors Item and will, once more, be focusing on my own work here on YOU ARE WHO YOU WEAR. Despite my not having actively blogged on here for over two years, I still get plenty of “hits” and comments – you all are a delight, thank you! I’ve had such a wonderful few years with Object and I will never forget what a privilege it was to work for a fashion house like Object. Thank you to those of you who presented me with the opportunity. I will truly never forget it. It’s been a hectic few years, folks! I just moved to New York City a few months ago and I am now contemplating a move…

Fall RTW 2010

Posted on March 3, 2010

I firmly believe that Fall/Winter runways are always much more intense and interesting than the Summer/Spring runways. The opportunities that designers have to incorporate layers, heavy colors, dramatic make-up, etc. always allows for a more interesting show. I have chosen the top five Fall RTW 2010 runways. Take a look: I had never heard of Iceberg until today. What fantastic designs! Alfred Hitchcock is the brilliant mind behind these designs. A mix of menswear and voluptuous furs allowed for a youthful, fun runway.  I did not see one ensemble that did not look ready-to-wear. At Iceberg it was all about the length. The checkered blouses were worn with calf-length pencil skirts, long ribbed cardigans were paired with ankle-cropped pants. Men’s shirts were worn suspended…

Forrest and Bob Pt. II

Posted on March 3, 2010

There are certain types of media that can’t really be described. Media that makes you speechless, blush and quite frankly raise your heartbeat just a little bit. This type of media was found in my inbox, just a few days ago. Sent from designers Forrest & Bob, I got a sneak peak  at their new lingerie collection as well as their S/S 2010 collection. The campaign was shot in Los Angeles and features three models and Carlos Leon. For the first time, Forrest & Bob are creating menswear. The Danish designers are well known for their basic tank designs and after having posed the question, “what do I wear underneath these tank tops?” Forrest and Bob offered me the perfect answer. The lingerie featured in…

New York Fashion Week

Posted on February 15, 2010

I have lost track of how many times that I have expressed that I do not care for celebrity designers. However, Victoria Beckham is the only exception. I adore the businesswoman that is Mrs. Beckham. She is a brilliant mind, that is for sure. However, after taking a look at her A/W 2010 collection I have come to the conclusion that she is also a brilliant designer. The collection featured only dresses and declared that “there wasn’t one bad dress in the bunch.” A well deserved compliment, if you ask me. I also really enjoyed Mrs. Beckham’s diverse runway. Asian models were featured along with Asian and Caucasian models. Now if she could just use models that weren’t rail thin! Curvy women, such…

10 Questions for Audrey Cantwell

Posted on January 27, 2010

I learned of Canadian fashion designer Audrey Cantwell completely by mistake. I was simply surfing the very popular website, when I stumbled upon her Etsy store “blackmarketbaby” and as many designers before her, I absolutely had to contact Ms. Cantwell regarding her designs. Below I have featured my favorite Audrey Cantwell designs as well as ten questions regarding them and her process of designing fashion. Take a look: 1. Your collections seem to have a dark themes. For example, your Howl collection includes a great amount of leather and studs and your most recent collection Salem features a lot of black colors and drapes. Why is that and how did you come up with the names for your collections? I`ve always had a…

The Fall/Winter of 2010

Posted on January 26, 2010

As I was researching what trends to pick as the Top  Five Trends for the Fall and Winter of 2010, I found that most of the trends could be predicted via. photos. I have therefore decided to use simple photos instead of words to explain my predictions of the trends that (hopefully) lie ahead of us in the year of 2010. Most of the trends that I found were from the designers pre-fall collections. Enjoy. sSources: google images,,,

Fashion Chalet

Erika is the writer behind the personal style and fashion blog known to readers around the world as Fashion Chalet. Having graduated with a Bachelor degree in multimedia journalism, it is no wonder that Fashion Chalet has been featured in ELLE (es), Nylon Magazine and many other respected fashion websites. I stumbled upon Erika’s blog and I immediately felt the urge to talk to her about her style, inspiration and life. Take a look:  Your blog, Fashion Chalet, was created in 2008. What made you decide to create a blog? I always had this urge to share images of what I was wearing or what inspired me at that particular moment. One day, after having tried all the other options: myspace, flickr, fashion forums- I…

I am traveling to Okemo Mountain (which is located in Ludlow, Vermont) for the week to snowboard. I will therefore not be blogging due to the fact that my home there does not have internet or cell phone service – welcome to Vermont! However, once I return I have exciting content. This is just a small preview: Sources:, audreycantwell, com,, google images.

We are eight days in to the new year. Am I the only one who feels like it has been 8 weeks already? 2009 was quite the year. Lady Gaga was everywhere, President Obama was inaugurated, Michael Jackson and Ted Kennedy both passed away along with the beautiful Farrah Fawcett as well as several other celebrities. Glenn Beck went crazy along with Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly while Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow remained perfectly sane. Then there was the attempted terrorist attack in late December… And these are just the things I remember from the top of my head! What was significant in your 2009? Well, personally, I am happy to leave 2009 behind. It was an excellent year but I just love…

The Size Issue

Posted on January 5, 2010

Both Glamour Magazine and V Magazine have attempted to address the issue of plus-size models in fashion. In recent months, both magazines have featured plus-size models with that intent. Glamour Magazine was the first to do it with model Lizzie Miller and now V Magazine has created an editorial called “The Size Issue”. However, while I absolutely applaud their work I feel as though their attempt is a little odd. I feel that their attempts are a little odd because in the editorials it seems to me that the models either has to be very thin or very large. There’s no in between. None of the models are a happy medium. I will not complain though because it is so refreshing to see diversity…
